Sam Still in Hospital... but Doing Well
Sam’s breathing and resting well. He’s hardly used Oxygen in the last few days. Sam and Mom even left Pediatric ICU for 2 1/2 hours yesterday and roamed around outside the hospital, stopped by the fountains, and generally tried to stay away from THE ROOM. Sam loved it ... but cried big old crocodile tears upon returning to bed. He’s ready to be home.
We’re stuck here waiting on the home health company to get insurance authorization for Sam’s new ventilator (for night use). They require a few days to get the authorization and then we have to spend 2 nights doing training in the hospital setting before they’ll let us go home with it. They may not get the ventilator here until Friday ... so we may not go home until Sunday at the earliest. ugh!
We’ll probably have night nursing for a few weeks until we get used to the ventilator. He’ll also finish out his IV antibiotic dose once we’re home.
We’re not sure when Sam will be able to attend school again ... it’s been 3 weeks away.
Please pray for:
- a miraculously fast insurance approval so we can get trained and go home
- quick return of Sam’s strength
- no complications or set-backs so Sam can get back into school soon.
- Tevah, Jacob and Simone to be healthy and not upset as many different folks care for them.
- Health of David, Kelly and Ursula as we take shifts up at the hospital with Sam and energy (we’re zombies).
Much thanks for your love and prayers,
David & Kelly
